Big improvements for visitors and residents in 2019
Dateline: [Acworth, GA, March 5, 2019] – 2019 might still be a new year, but here in Acworth, we’ve been hard at work for months and months to make this year the best one yet for our visiting friends. With these projects, from bridges to breweries, we’re making a great place even better for folks who want to experience our special town firsthand. Take a look at what we’ve been working on:
A New Pedestrian Bridge
Acworth really has the best of both worlds: a vibrant historic downtown on one side, an expansive 140 acres of beautiful dedicated green space on the other — and soon, with our new pedestrian bridge, an easy way to walk from one to the next. The Lemon Street Pedestrian Bridge, which overlooks the railroad tracks and is slated to finish construction in April, offers a seamless way for people to get back and forth from lakeside to parkside, without having to wait on railroad traffic to clear. “Since 2002, we have significantly transformed our downtown,” says Mayor Tommy Allegood. “Now, we’re using the pedestrian bridge to expand our transformation and be able to connect to Logan Farm Park, which also has our new community center.” The Mayor adds that the view from the top of the bridge is pretty stunning, too — so you can enjoy the vista, brush up on your photography skills, or simply post up and watch the trains go by.
Exciting New Eats
Call us biased, but we firmly believe that Acworth has some of the very best dining, drinks, and Southern hospitality to be found in the metro area. (Not to mention our handy open container district, perfect for sipping while strolling) Good news, foodies: in 2019, Acworth will welcome a handful of exciting new restaurants and bars joining our city’s dynamic food and drink scene, including a chef-driven restaurant, a one-of-a-kind beer garden and tap room, and even our first craft brewery. Stay tuned for more exciting details on these projects.
More Public Parking
We’re always working to make your experience in Acworth as relaxing and welcoming as possible. We’ve added 400 new parking spots in the downtown area to help accommodate our friends visiting from out of town, and all of them are free.
And… Golf Carts!
Start your engines: a new ordinance allows people to ride golf carts in streets, and you don’t have to be a golf pro to zip around like one. Seeing Acworth from behind the wheel of a golf cart is easy, leisurely, and a whole lot of fun. Stop by Appalachian Outfitters on Main Street to rent your chariot for the day.
2019 is shaping up to be our best year yet, and we can’t wait to host you in Acworth!
